Square Enix’s Drakengard 3 will be released for the Playstation 3 on the 20th of March. In preparation, Square Enix has just announced the prices and bundles of the pre-order version of the game. There will be two versions, a Standard pre-order priced at $49.99 and a Collector’s Edition, priced at $79.99. Nothing new here, right? Well, not quite. It seems Square Enix has decided to give out pre-order rewards based on how soon you actually pre-order Drakengard 3. This means that the rewards will be varied, based on the timeframe in which you order.
Orders that get in before the 3rd of March will come with the Japanese voice-over DLC, and two unannounced bonuses. Orders from the 4th of March up until the 8th of April and you’ll only get the two bonuses, without the Japanese voice-over DLC. Any pre-orders after that date will only land you one bonus. The fact that these bonuses are unknown could be an incentive, as well as a turn-off for Drakengard 3 buyers.
Of course, if you opt for the Collector’s Edition, you’ll be getting everything, regardless of when you order your copy. The CE’s of Drakengard 3 are limited in number though, and only 5.000 will be available, exclusively through Square Enix’s online shop. Here’s what they include:
- All three pre-order bonuses
- Soundtrack sampler
- The game’s novella
- Prequel stage DLC (play as Zero’s sister, One, for one level)
- Caim constume DLC (while equipped; decreases stamina usage by half when using a skill)
- Giant baby hat DLC (for your dragon)
- Poster
And of course, here’s an opening trailer for the game:
