Dreadnought is a game where bigger is better.

The Berlin based developer Yager have been on the silent front since releasing their harrowing and depressing surprise hit of last year, Spec Ops: The Line. Radio silence has been broken though, and the developer has now screamed back into the public spotlight with their post E3 trailer for the outstanding looking sci-fi title, Dreadnaught.

Coming exclusively to PC, the title will be set deep in a futuristic galaxy tainted by war, Dreadnought promises to put the player in the role of a mercenary spaceship captain with no agenda or allegiance. Yager will be pairing up with Grey Box to publish the title. Check out the teaser trailer below:

Mathias Wiese, co-founder and Art Director of Yager released a short statement with the trailer, saying that the team have “been developing and testing some incredible ideas that now perfectly come together in Dreadnought. Grey Box has been an amazing partner and we’re incredibly thankful they share our vision for what Dreadnought will become.” Steering away (get it?) from the fast paced dogfighting simulation that recent games such as Star Citizen and No Man’s Sky, Dreadnought sticks to it’s guns by focusing on gigantic battleships of various size. Replacing the eye bleedingly fast twitch gameplay of similar titles will be a much more refined experience in the captain’s chair, where players will be given full control of power systems, crew, and big juicy weapons batteries. Definitely a game for folks who wish they were Captain Picard instead of The Last Starfighter, and definitely something to look out for when it comes out hopefully later this year.
