Driveclub gets new trailer, pushed back to October

by GH Staff

Sony’s Driveclub seems to be cursed, at least as far as the development process is concerned. The highly anticipated PS4 racing gaming has seen many hiccups along the way, and it seems the game will be delayed yet again, this time to fall 2014. More exactly, you’ll be getting your hands on Driveclub on the 8th of October. This surely is a disappointment to fans, who have been itching to play a truly next-gen racing game on the PS4. Driveclub will have stiff competition from Project Cas during that period, so how well this delay bodes for Sony and developer Evolution Studios remains to be seen.

Sony President Shuhei Yoshida released a statement earlier today, explaining why this delay was sadly necessary. “The problem with being ambitious is you have to be prepared to accept there will be challenges along the way. What Driveclub offers has not been previously achieved in this category, and, because of this, the team needed more time to give you the game you’re waiting for.” In addition, he explained that Paul Rustchynsky had taken over the position of Game Director on the social racing game back in February, after Col Rodgers stepped down from the position earlier.

“In addition to the new date, we are also very pleased to announce that as of February 2014, Paul Rustchynsky–better known as Rushy–has been at the helm of Driveclub as Game Director. We appreciate the announcement has come a little late, however we wanted to inform his appointment along with the new date announcement.” said Yoshida.

On the bright side of things, we’re at least getting a new trailer for the game, a trailer that reveals the true beauty of Driveclub. The game looks incredible, at least in trailers, so it might just be worth the wait. We’re no fans of rushed releases (no, we still haven’t gotten over EA and Betafield 4), so sucking it up and waiting a little bit longer seems like a worthwhile sacrifice. In the meantime, take a look at the new trailer and hope that the 8th of October release date stays final this time.
