Funcom announced on Xbox Wire, in a post published September 22, 2026, that Dune: Awakening is out now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and via Xbox Game Pass, where it was confirmed as part of the service’s September lineup.

The open-world survival game is set on Arrakis, where players explore deserts, gather resources, craft equipment, build a base, develop their character, and investigate the mystery of the missing Fremen.

The title had been available on PC for a while. Today’s Xbox launch arrives alongside a major update that introduces a full single-player mode.

That mode offers three difficulty presets, or players can customize gameplay settings in detail, including sandstorms, harvesting and XP multipliers, building piece limits, and item durability.

Book One conclusion and combat changes

The update brings the conclusion of Book One: “The Great Convention Part III” and its final chapter, so the entire story can be played from beginning to end in one run.

Every existing story mission now grants new rewards, including swatches, weapon and armour variants, and placeable decorations.

Combat has also been improved with a larger parry window, reworked NPC animations, rebalanced enemy stamina, improved enemy AI, and dashing that lets players pass through enemies.

Two new weapons, Dual Blades and Pyrocket, were added, and the Rapier was reworked into a parrying weapon.

PvE play, rebuilt Landsraad, and progression

PvP is now optional; every aspect of the game can be played entirely in PvE.

The Landsraad faction-vs-faction endgame was rebuilt into a mission-driven framework with twenty ranks from outsider to Atreides Envoy or Harkonnen Enforcer.

Arrakis has been expanded with 7 new mission locations, 6 Imperial Testing Stations, and more contracts and dynamic encounters.

A new Specializations progression system lets players invest points across crafting, gathering, exploration, combat, and sabotage.

Augmentations are powerful modifiers for unique Tier 6 weapons and armour, found as schematics in Testing Stations.

On Xbox Series X|S the game runs with two graphics modes: Performance at 60fps and Dynamic 4K, and Quality at 30fps and Dynamic 4K, with Play Anywhere, Cloud Gaming, and ROG Ally support.

Everyone who plays between September 17 and October 22 receives the Matron’s Decor reward. A Filmic Archive DLC with looks from Dune Part One and Part Two arrives today.
