As you may have heard earlier, EA was seemingly charging for demos of FIFA 14 and EA Sports UFC on the Xbox One marketplace. They were originally free, but were suddenly priced at £3.99 in the UK and $4.99 in North America and Australia. As expected, the reason was a technical error rather than EA intentionally trying to make a quick buck off of gamers as some may have thought. The company released this statement:
“The price associated with the FIFA 14 and EA Sports UFC demos was due to a technical error. Both demos have now been fixed in the Microsoft store.”
There were no reported errors on the PlayStation Store so it should be assumed that either the error did not affect it in the first place or it had already been rectified. Hopefully those that were unfortunate enough to download the paid version of the demo will get reimbursed, but there is no information on that as of yet.
