A recent Q&A session hosted by Bethesda/Zenimax has given answers to many pressing concerns about the Playstation version of the Elder Scrolls Online. First, the good news we’ve wanted to hear for a long time – players of the Elder Scrolls Online won’t need a Playstation Plus subscription to play the game on the Playstation 4. Just like PC or Mac users, Playstation 4 players will be required to pay for the game’s monthly subscription (estimated at $15/month), and nothing else.
In order to balance the game properly, console users will have their own megaservers, separate from the PC users. This was an important decision by the developers, as the Elder Scrolls Online won’t be launching at the same time on the PC and the consoles. PC users will receive the game on the 4th of April, while the Xbox One and Playstation 4 versions of ESO will be coming sometime in June. Having separate servers means that console players won’t have to face higher-leveled PC players when they get the game, and considering PvP is a core part of the Elder Scrolls Online, we approve with this decision. In addition, it seems that the console version will see separate EU and NA servers, at least on the Playstation 4.

Don’t worry about the Elder Scrolls Online console controls. Zenimax is working on a console specific control mapping system!
It’s unclear how the Mouse/Keyboard controls will be replaced on the consoles, but the Zenimax clarified that they are currently testing a control system that involves the Dual Shock 4 touchpad. The hotbar will most likely be replaced for console users, but the developers are satisfied with how Elder Scrolls Online plays from the couch, and will be giving more details later. Lastly, Zenimax and Bethesda assure Playstation 4 fans that a beta exclusive for the console will be made available at a future time, and even though they haven’t announced a date, it’s safe to assume it’s coming up soon.
