F2P shooter Loadout launch date announced

by GH Staff

Loadout isn’t your regular hyper-realistic military combat simulator. It’s more along the lines of Team Fortress 2 meets Borderlands with a pinch of blood and some broken limbs. It’s what you get when “You think you can dance?” contestants feel a need to study medicine on a bunch of dismembered soldiers. In other words, Loadout is an over-the-top and seemingly fun shooter that doesn’t take itself too seriously but should provide quite some laughs.

Developer Edge of Reality has announced that Loadout will be launching on the 31st of January. Besides being free to play, the game boasts itself with an extremely wide variety of weapon combinations. In fact, it’s as close to infinite as you’re going to get, with over 44 billion weapon combinations available.  “We started this as a passion project, working on it when we could, and trying to create something original and truly player-friendly. What we’ve got now is a game that’s a blast to play, quick and easy to get into, and empowers players with insane amounts of customization.” said Edge of Reality CEO Rob Cohen.

Our only concern about the game is related to how the devs managed to balance out these weapons. With this many combinations, it’s impossible to properly test each and every weapon individually. Added to this are the concerns related about freely available weapons versus purchasable ones. It’s unclear how Loadout will be generating revenue, but most likely, the money will be coming from purchasable weapons and customization options. Which makes us wonders whether Loadout will be a case of pay to win or not? In any case, we’re eager to find out, and less than two weeks are standing between our itchy trigger fingers and Loadout’s massive arsenal. Until then, take a look at the Early Access trailer and some gameplay footage!
