Fallout 4 Bethesda Patents 2 Fallout title in Germany

A hawk-eyed user over on gaming website, RPGCodex.net, has recently discovered a German patent application from Bethesda for Fallout: Shadow of Boston. Is Bethesda gearing up for a Fallout 4 announcement?

Fallout: Shadow of Boston Patent Application

Fallout 4 Bethesda Patent Application

This is not the first time Fallout: Shadow of Boston has been seen in the wild, as earlier this year an IMDB entry was found for the same title, however the title has, as expected, since been removed.

Bethesda’s German patent application for Fallout: Shadow of Boston looks fairly legitimate, but it is entirely possible that it may be another  just well-executed, yet cruel hoax against gamers anxiously awaiting further news on Fallout 4 (Curse you, Survivor 2099 – so be wary to say the least.

Furthermore, the fact that it’s subtitle is Shadow of Boston may imply that Bethesda’s patent is for something related to the Fallout series, but not Fallout 4 itself – possibly a spin-off, a TV series, or some form of tie-in to the game’s universe.

On the other hand, it may also be possible that Fallout: Shadow of Boston is real – the title matches up with documentation leaked late last year that stated Boston will bethe setting for Bethesda’s next Fallout game. Could Shadow of Boston be Fallout 4?

 Fallout 4 Incoming?

Late last month, Geoff Keighley, host of GameTrailersTV and, more relevantly, the executive producer of VGX (formerly known as the Spike TV Video Game Awards Show), tweeted a rather intriguing image stating that he had a “great night planning with the ladies who run Bethesda,” hinting at the possibility of a major game announcement – possibly Fallout 4 – at this year’s VGX.

This development coupled with Bethesda’s patent application for Fallout: Shadow of Boston may be a veritable sign from above for hopeful gamers itching to hear more about Fallout 4.

Additionally, Bethesda filed for another trademark, for Fallout: Ultimate Collection, to be exact – seen below, hinting that past games in the Fallout series may be remastered (or at the very least, repackaged) for an anthology or compilation of some sort.
