As recent Valve Steam sales featured Counter Strike: Global Offensive, players noticed an increased number of cheaters in matchmaking. Valve has taken the right path and updated their VAC defense system, which resulted in numerous bans of players who just got their copy of the game. However, according to fans VAC has still a long way to go, before the Matchmaking in CS:GO becomes more competitive and fair.
Ever since the game’s release back in August, 2012 the Matchmaking in CS:GO has been perceived as one of the best features of the game allowing a more equal gaming experience for both new and hardcore players. However, much like ‘Betafield 4,’ the matchmaking system in the game needs to be fixed in various ways, only one of which is the problem with the number of cheaters and the VAC system.
With Counter Strike: Global Offensive biggest eSport event the 2014 EMS One Katowice CS:GO Championship already in its qualification stage, Valve’s CS:GO team has enough work as it is ensuring the fair play in the tournament. However, as fans continue to pile up their requests for an updated VAC system and matchmaking, because of the increased number of cheaters after Valve’s seasonal sales, things are not looking well.
From pages long forum posts to official petitions in change.org fans are trying to find a way to ensure that their favorite game recieves the treatment it deservers from Valve. However, no official response regarding the matter has been released at this point.
It is interesting to notice how huge AAA multiplayer titles such as Battlefield 4 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive seem to be at a falling point with the patience of fans so dried out that they actually stop playing it. And as Call of Duty has its own problems, this may very well be the time that new innovative next-gen multiplayer shooters, such as Titanfall, become the FPS franchises of tomorrow.
Will Valve will respond to the requests of fans or is Counter Strike: Global Offensive is already doomed?
