It seems as though Ubisoft just can’t seem to shake controversy as of late. The company has been subject to numerous fiascoes this year, the most recent being Assassin’s Creed Unity‘s remarkably catastrophic launch. However, the focus has seemingly switched to another upcoming Ubisoft-published and developed game, Far Cry 4.
Far Cry 4′s review embargo has already been lifted, with reviews for console versions of the game steadily appearing across the Internet. The general consensus seems positive, with consistently high scores across the board. Yet inexplicably, there are no reviews for the PC version of the game to be found, which begs the following simple question:
“Why?”
The appropriate answer to that question would be:
“No one has received review code for the PC version of Far Cry 4.”
This information, coupled alongside the disastrous launch of Assassin’s Creed Unity does not bode well for PC gamers looking to get their Far Cry 4 fix.

Far Cry 4 PC Review Code Delayed
Gamer Headlines has previously requested a PC review copy for Far Cry 4, and was told that we would be sent code…we have not.
With the impending release of the game next week, it would be exceedingly beneficial to receive review code for it a decent amount of time beforehand in order to properly analyze and review (alongside the ability to publish a review on or sometime soon after Far Cry 4‘s release).
However, GH has since been informed that PC review code for Far Cry 4 will not be sent out until Monday, November 17th – the day before the game officially launches.
If this situation sounds vaguely familiar, it’s due to the fact that its nearly identical to circumstances surrounding the Assassin’s Creed Unity review embargo debacle.
Normally, this wouldn’t be as big a deal, but with this development coming during the same week as the aforementioned Assassin’s Creed Unity catastrophe and Ubisoft’s reported effort to better cater to the gaming community, the entire situation is, to put it frankly, quite disappointing (and concerning).
Fellow gaming website, PCGamer.com, is in the same boat as GamerHeadlines, and has requested an official statement from Ubisoft regarding the delay.
The company responded with the following:
“The reason why we did not provide review code until now is that there is a title update which won’t be available before Monday prior to launch. However, we will officially communicate on the title update prior to the release of the game so consumers are aware.”
Furthermore, prominent PC gaming YouTuber, TotalBiscuit, has tweeted on the matter:
FYI looks like it might be the PC version of Far cry 4 that is being illusive. All reviews seem to be console atm

Being told Monday for Farcry 4 PC code. PC gamers are advised to hold off til we (myself, PCgamer etc) look at performance

PC users be very wary. They claim a big patch the day before, what does that remind you of?

What are your thoughts on Far Cry 4‘s PC review code delay? Do you think that the PC version of the game will be as well received as the console iterations? Why or why not?
Also, will Far Cry 4‘s launch echo the criticisms Assassin’s Creed Unity received on release day?
