Marie-Christine Bourdua has announced on the PlayStation Blog that Polytron will be releasing their puzzle-platformer Fez for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita on March 25. Polytron, Blit Software, and Sony have all been working together to get the game released on all of Sony’s platforms.
Fez will run at 720p at 60 frames per second on the PS3, while on the PS Vita, the game will run at the console’s native resolution of 960 x 544. In her post, Boruda stated that she believes the PS4 version of Fez to be “the best-looking and smoothest Fez experience you can get on a TV set,” and the game will run at 1080p at 60 FPS on the console. She emphasizes that although people may think that upping the resolution on a game like Fez wouldn’t make a large graphical difference, this increase in resolution actually helps in making the game look a lot crisper. Fez will also fully support Crossplay and Crossbuy.
Boruda writes that there will not be a lot of big changes made to these versions of the game. However, she hints that there will be a few interesting surprises and features added, particularly in the PS4 version of the game. The lightbar of the DualShock 4 in particular will be utilized, according to Boruday. ” [The] DualShock 4’s lightbar has been put to the task of bringing a little bit of Fez’s world into your own home, and you may not need to search for that dusty pair of red/cyan glasses to experience a very late-game easter egg…” She then goes on to give a humorous story regarding Fez’s 3DTV support, ” Funny story: to test the new 3DTV support, we spent a weekend running around computer shops to find a monitor that sports an integrated emitter. When we found one and started up Fez, our minds were forever expanded. I think we can see the fourth dimension now?”
Chei Chen also writes on the PlayStation Blog that Fez will be available at a discounted price for PlayStation Plus members for the first week that it is out. PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to purchase Fez for $9.99 from March 25-31. Everyone else will be able to purchase the game for $12.99 when it is released.
