Today marks the first day of Blizzcon 2014 and Blizzard have started big. On top of their new IP Overwatch, Blizzard also announced the very first expansion for its incredibly popular collectible card game Hearthstone. The expansion is entitled ‘Goblin vs Gnomes’, and it will feature over 120 brand new cards and the brand new minion type called ‘Mechs’. Expect a great deal of explosive and creative cards, if you have ever played World of Warcraft you will know what crazy inventions both Goblins and Gnomes can bring to the table.
‘Goblins vs Gnomes throws players smack dab in the middle of a rivalry between cunning goblin engineers and their eternally-tinkering gnome counterparts. These pint-size foes don’t always have the upper hand over the myriad mechanical contraptions they cook up, and the results can be . . . unpredictable.’
Goblins vs Gnomes will be launching this December on all current Hearthstone platforms. You receive the new cards by purchasing special Goblin vs Gnomes booster packs. The cards will also be available in the Arena mode right from the release of the expansion if you own them in your own collection or not. The launch of Hearthstone on Android tablets was also announced, and that will be launching alongside Goblins vs Gnomes.
Hearthstone has been a huge success for Blizzard, the game hasn’t even been out a full year yet and already the game has had a successful adventure pack released. Goblins vs Gnomes will most likely be the first of many expansions Blizzard will be releasing for Hearthstone.
