This problem has mostly been reported with Windows 8 as well as 8.1 platforms but there is a way out of the problem. In this piece, you will learn about some of the troubleshooting options you have in case the Nexus 5 connection fails.

This problem can occur in two different ways; when Windows 8.1 installs inconsistent or incompatible drivers to the PC or the whole problem can originate from the trouble-prone UniversalAdbDriver. If you are confronted by any of the two situations, the following remedy will help you out and be sure to follow the entire instructions one after the other.

  • From the settings section, you will be able to see the storage part and everything should start right there. Proceed to the menu screen and then choose the USB connection that automatically goes to the PC.
  • This will be the time to have both computer and handset connected together and it will lead you to the device manager. The device manager will be visible on the computer which you will have to open. From the manager, search for anything that looks like your device which can be a mobile phone or a related device and work with it.
  • Once you have identified the resembling device, right-click on it and all the necessary options will pop up. From that, choose the option of updating your driver and this should be from local disk. You should specifically have your eyes traded on MTP USB Driver which you will be required to select.
  • After selecting the MTP USB Driver, it will be installed to the PC immediately which will take very limited time to complete. However, the period that it will take you to install this will depend on many factors so don’t overlook anything.
  • Carry out a free trial after installation to determine whether it has bonded well with the PC or you will need to repeat the same procedures. If it’s okay, the device will be renamed to Nexus 5 pointing to an end to the connectivity issues. If the name of the device does not read Nexus 5, it will be a pointer that some problems occurred in the process and all steps have to be repeated.

It is very rare to find the USB cable experiencing connection hitches so don’t focus too much on that. The whole problem lies with the PC and you have no reason to gamble around with what the possible hitch could be. The steps discussed above should be well positioned to help you find an answer to any connection problems that your Nexus 5 might be experiencing. There is even no need for an expert to help handle that.
