Flappy Bird Revival: The Sudden Cult Classic Will Make Return To App Stores

Anyone who has played a game on a mobile device knows how addicting these apps can be. However Dong Nguyen, creator of the popular Flappy Bird mobile game, wasn’t ready for the amount of attention he would receive. Nguyen pulled the plug on Flappy Bird, but is now giving a clear and resounding “yes” to bringing the app back to the Apple store.

Earlier this year Dong Nguyen released a game known as Flappy Bird. The game was fairly simple: tap the screen to make the bird fly while avoiding pipes reminiscent of a level design from Super Mario. The game was simple enough and extremely addicting. Add to that its cost of nothing, and Flappy Bird quickly became the most popular free app in the Apple App Store and Google Play markets.

Once the app was pulled per Dong Nguyen’s decision, a number of imposters proceeded to flood the market. One of the stand-out imposters was a game endorsed by the popular band Fall Out Boy, who sought to pay homage to the original with their installment. Nguyen, prior to this statement, has previously given hints that Flappy Bird may make a return one day. Nguyen has even expressed interest in remaking Flappy Bird altogether.
