There has been quite sometime since the general public has heard any information or rumors about Left 4 Dead 3 and Half-Life 3. But the latest person to be talking about these games is Minh Le, the co-creator of Counter-Strike and a former employee of Valve. In an interview with goGRNTV, Le was pressed on the issue and revealed, “it wouldn’t be any news if I said yes, I saw [Left 4 Dead 3]. It looks great.” Soon, the developer would further elaborate on the previous statement.
“So I was really excited when I saw that. I was like ‘Wow, this looks great.’ I really enjoyed Left 4 Dead. It was just one of those games that really changed the industry because I think at the time there weren’t many good co-op games, so it was like, ‘Yeah, this is a great co-op game.'”
On top of this, Le claims that the much-anticipated and mysterious Half-Life 3 is in development and he has seen concept art.
“There’s like a laser sight on my head right now. I don’t know if I can talk about that, to be honest. I think it’s kind of public knowledge that people know that it is being worked on. So if I were to say I’ve seen some images, like some concept art of it, that wouldn’t be big news. But I guess I could say that I did see something that looked like kind of like in the Half-Life universe. It wouldn’t surprise anyone if I said ‘Yeah, they’re working on it.’ So I mean, to go out on a limb, I would say yeah, I did see some concept art for Half-Life 3. Somebody’s knocking on my door right now [laughs]. It seems like old news. I think everyone kind of knows that it’s being worked on.”
Though Minh Le has not worked for Valve in quite sometime, it seems he will be the best source for now, which leaves gamers to debate about the reliability of the information. Furthermore, Valve has yet to make a comment about Le’s statements. Since his Valve days, the so-called ‘Gooseman’ has worked on the free-to-play shooter Tactical Intervention, which is available on Steam; the game is rough around the edges but really fun to play.
What do you think about these statements? Are Left 4 Dead 3 and Half-Life 3 really being developed? Are these games the industry’s worst kept secret or is Valve just messing with us? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below and for all updates continue to read Gamer Headlines.
