Are you using Viber? Free calling and texting through mobile applications is becoming the ideal way of communicating to relatives and friends in the world of technology today. With the increasing number of users who now prefer texting apps to make video calls, sent text messages and share photos hence the most popular apps of today namely LINE, WeChat and Viber. How do the three of them compare?

Viber

With this application downloaded on your phone, you would be able to call other Viber users to your heart’s content and not only calling, but text as much as you like too but not really that good for texting though. Because the calls are VoIP handled, there will be times that the users will experience latency issues, especially if they don’t have good internet connection in their area.

Talking about drawbacks, the major point that makes this app a not-so-good option that if you would receive an incoming call, but you don’t have Wi-Fi on, it’s likely that your device will eat up a lot of data and you’ll feel like you’re ripped off when you see your data plan bill.

LINE

The Free Calls Rush-Choosing Among LINE, WeChat and ViberDownloading this messaging application would mean that you can make free calls and send free text messages to your friends and relatives who are LINE users too. This mobile app is very popular in countries like China, UK and US today because this allows users to use the services of LINE to the same users regardless of which country the recipient is in.

The downside is that the audio quality is not really good if you don’t have a strong internet connection and the absence of the log out button for those instances when you just don’t want to receive phone calls or text messages through the app. Lastly, there are no notifications if you missed a few calls.

WeChat

This application offers the same calling and texting for free, but is more popular because of its high quality video calling, not really that much for texting and voice calling. There’s no VoIP for We Chat to allow for making voice calls, but calls are in half-duplex for the app. If you’ve used walkie-talkies in the past, this works kind of like it.

If you want to call someone, you and the person you’re talking to would press the mic button to talk and then let go of the button if you’re done talking and for the other person to get to talk to you. This can be a bit tiring for some people really.

The good and bad of the messaging apps mentioned above, it looks like all of them, Viber, LINE and WeChat are still great options and identifying which is the best really depends on your needs.
