If you play certain Nintendo, Konami, or EA titles online, you may not be able to much longer, as the GameSpy multiplayer servers will be shutting down on May 31st.
According to an IGN report, the third-party multiplayer solution will be shut down on May 31st, after playing host to some of gaming’s biggest titles and franchises, like Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto IV, and literally hundreds of PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and DS titles published by studios like Capcom, Traveller’s Tales, Treyarch and Activision.
The good news is that for most of the major franchises, you’re in the clear. Rockstar and Activision say their titles won’t have any problems, while those Wii and DS titles that use GameSpy will be joining every other Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection enabled title: in the dark. Nintendo announced that the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service would be ending about 11 days before the GameSpy multiplayer servers shut down.
