Both these smartphones were released in the first quarter of 2014. Both phones have touch screen with multi touch technology. Both the phones are almost of the same size i.e., 5 inches with 1080×1920 pixels and ~ 441 ppi pixel density. But to know which of the two is a better phone, let’s see their detailed features.
Gionee Elife S5.5
This smart phone sports an ultra-slim body with an overall thickness of about 5.5mm. This has made it the slimmest Android smartphone available in the world. This in no way means it can’t give the other smart phones a tough competition because of it being loaded with powerful specs and features in its slender body.
Design and Display
It weighs approximately 133 grams and comes in a variety of colours. It uses super AMOLED display technology and comes with corning gorilla glass 3 for protection. The display quality is good and is one of the strong points of the phone. Both the power and volume keys are on the left panel of the phone. On the right panel it has a rubber covered SIM- card slot.
Specifications, Camera and Battery
It come with an android 4.2 (jellybean) operating system. It also has amigo OS 2.0.powered by 1.7 GHz octa-core processor by mediate which means good response time and good multi-tasking capabilities. It has a 16 GB internal storage of which 12 GB is available to use. It has no memory card slot to increase the storage. It has a 13 MP back camera with LED flash and a 5 MP front camera which is great for taking pictures. While the camera is speedy at taking pictures its focusing ability is average. It has an HDR mode for taking pictures with greater detail. A 2400 mAh battery is pretty undesirable for a smartphone. It also takes longer to fully charge the phone.
Micromax Canvas Knight A350
Micromax has been stepping up its game with the launch of Micromax canvas knight 350. It has all the best features packed up in one phone at a reasonable price. But like every other phone we can’t say whether it a good buy or not without digging a little deeper into its specifications.
Design and Display
This is by far the best looking phone Micromax has come out with. It has no micro SD card slot but has two Micro SIM slots on either side. The power and the volume buttons are both placed on the same side close to one another. They are also of the same size which can cause some confusion. This phone provides three capacitive buttons with backlight on the bottom.
Specifications, Camera and Battery
It comes with a v4.4.2 (KitKat) operating system with a few additional Micromax apps. It has 32 GB memory of which 25 GB is useable. It supports a 16 MP Omni Vision camera with dual LED Flash. The front camera is 8 MP, good for selfies and video calling. Both the focusing ability and time taken to click a picture are good. The 2350mAh battery is unable to keep up with the tech packed into the Micromax Knight.
Overall
Considering the features of both the phones, the choice depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a premium looking phone at an affordable cost Gionee Elife S5.5 is for you; and if you are looking for a phone with a great Camera then go in for Micromax Canvas Knight A350. Both the phones have average user functionality and poor battery life.
