Santa Monica Studio has detailed the launch and pre-order plans for God of War Laufey. Pre-orders open September 29 at 10:00am local time, and the game launches on PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027. Any copy purchased before launch includes the Last Wish Armor Set, the Phranque Golden Leaves Appearance, and an in-game resource pack.
The announcement follows the title’s June State of Play reveal, and it builds on the earlier response that addressed fan skepticism by detailing a combat system built around Faye’s Serpent Bow, an enchanted bow with the shifting form of a serpent that moves between dormant and notched states for close-quarters and ranged play.
Pre-Order Bonus and Digital Deluxe Edition
The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the Dark Alchemy Armor Set, Dark Alchemy Blade, Dark Alchemy Bow Scales, Dark Alchemy Catalyst, an in-game resource pack, a digital mini artbook, and the official God of War Laufey digital soundtrack.
The pre-order bonus is delivered via download code for the physical Standard Edition and requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account. In-game items are unlocked through story progression.
How Faye’s Serpent Bow Works
Precision mode uses a full aim trigger pull for more precise aim and increased draw distance. Striking certain points on an enemy’s body can impair their movement or ability to strike, opening them up for a melee follow-up. Faye can also charge the bow and stack up to five arrows for a volley, which pairs with Phranque’s ability to launch enemies into the sky.
Hip-fire mode uses a half press of the aim trigger to enter a more mobile hip-fire stance that unleashes a cluster of arrows for heavy close-range damage, letting Faye juggle airborne enemies and extend combos while swapping between weapons and abilities. Arrow types include rapid fire, explosive detonations, and multi-target options.
Serpent Scales and Gear Customization
The bow can be equipped with different Scales that change its look and its playstyle through a unique perk, such as the Dark Alchemy Bow Scales from the Digital Deluxe Edition. The bow also has unlockable skills. Faye’s Blade lets you customize the element of her sword, Scales customize the element of the Serpent Bow, and Catalysts are powerful artifacts that channel the magic of the Everywhen with different effects.
