Anyone who follows the tech world will now have heard of Google Glass, Google’s awesome yet controversial headset which displays info right into your eyeball. Pretty futuristic stuff. Well, the version that’s going around for a few lucky people known as Explorers isn’t the most attractive looking thing in the world, but Google looks to fix all that as it has just been announced that Google has partnered with Luxottica, the company behind Oakley and Ray-Ban. At the moment, there has been no information on the amount this has cost the tech firm, but I have no doubt it wasn’t cheap.
This will not only get Google the design help they need, but Luxottica have retail presence, which will allow Google to let customers try out their new headwear. We’ve heard a lot about Glass lately, with UK based airline Virgin Atlantic trialing it with check-in staff. It has also gained a fair bit of controversy, with some firms such as bars and restaurants banning the device all together. Personally I can’t wait to try this out.
Google is expected to announce general availability for Glass sometime this year, with pricing to go along with it. Would you wear Google Glass if it was more your style? Let us know!
