Gran Turismo 6’s new update is live, brings new cars and more

by GH Staff

Fans of Gran Turismo 6 have something to look forward to starting today. The game has just received a major update, which brings a ton of goodies for free. Let’s get right into the thick of it and see what’s in store when you log in for a race.

First of all, the Red Bull X Challenge is back with its second part. Gran Turismo 6’s Career Mode has been updated to include new challenges, challenges that aim to recreate an authentic Formula racing experience. Formula 1 driver and world champion Sebastian Vettel himself is on-board, and a driving tutorial supported by him will help players master the art of professional race driving.

Stingray

New cars are also added, of course. First, there’s the stunning Corvette Stingray Gran Turismo Concept. The concept was displayed at the 2013 SEMA, where it represented a collaboration between Gran Turismo developers and the designers at Chevrolet. The car can be obtained by taking part in the new Seasonal Event (available for a limited time) or by simply purchasing it in the in-game dealership.
The second car introduced is the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series (that’s quite the mouthful). This car won’t be available in the Dealership, but can be obtained through participation in the Seasonal Event.

Mercedes

In addition, Gran Turismo 6 will reward players based on their birthday. When logging on to the PSN network, players will be awarded a car from the year of their birth. This car will be made available within 1 week from the birthday. The information for the birthday is automatically taken from the SEN accounts of players. A Remove Ghost Replay button has been added to the Arcade Mode Time Trial and Free Run Quick Mode, and prize information can now be viewed on the right side of the Seasonal Event screen.
