[dropcap size=dropcap]G[/dropcap]ran Turismo 6 was not yet released and we are already talking about the next title of the series, Gran Turismo 7. According to Kazunori Yamauchi, the GT series creator, the next installment will be released in 2014. His words are even more surprising as GT6 will be released three years after its predecessor.
“We don’t want to take too long on Gran Turismo 7. Best-case scenario? Next year. In GT6 we really had to tune the software 100 per cent to maximize the PS3’s architecture, but of course the PS4’s hardware is much better, so I think the overall quality of the game across the board will be boosted when you come to play it” Kazunori said.
We’ll keep our fingers crossed in hope that his promises will prove to be real. After all, he did not gave us a certain release date, only an estimation. He gave us though something to dream and hope about during the months that follow the GT 6 release.
According to Kazunori Yamauchi, the developers of GT6 have already pushed PS3 to its limits while working on the game. Now, that PS4 was released, the road is cleared for the next installment, Gran Turismo 7. Therefore, it’s possible to expect it rather sooner than we would have expected until the next gens were launched. Questioned about the GT series’ main competition, Forza, Kazunori replied: “We always respect our competition. The racing genre isn’t really that big in its entirety, so I’m glad that everyone works hard to boost the genre as a whole.” He must be confident that GT6 will break some records and that Gran Turismo 7 will be even better. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been such a diplomat, we think.
While GT 6 is to be released in December, three years after GT 5 was launched, the news that the future Gran Turismo 7 will come in 2014, just one year after its predecessor, is surprising but at the same time, well received.
