Grand Theft Auto 5 – On Top At Golden Joystick Awards

Grand Theft Auto 5, an adult nature crime game won “Game of the year” award at Golden Joystick awards in central London.

This controversial game from Rockstar is also considered as the fast selling game in history. Almost, 11 million copies of Grand Theft Auto 5 were sold on its opening day and in just three days it earned a tiotal revenue of $1 billion.  

Golden Joystick awards are the biggest video gaming awards where people cast their votes and this year almost ten million of them casted their votes. Obviously, there were more votes for Grand Theft Auto 5, which made it won the award.

Apart from GTA 5, Sony’s publication “The last of us” also won two awards. This year there was also an addition to ceremony, “The lifetime achievement award”. Ken Levine, man behind System Shock 2 and BioShock was privileged with this award. Some awards winning games at Golden Joystick awards were:

  1. Best Newcomer: The last of Us
  2. Hall of Fame: vision: Call of Duty
  3. Best Multiplayer: Payday 2
  4. Best Online Game: World of Tanks
  5. YouTube Gamer Award: Yogscast
  6. Studio of the year: Naughty Dog

After award ceremony, Ken Levine said that nature of the games is still maturing and they want gamers to get inspired by work of veterans and novices alike. Gaming industry is progressing by leaps and bounds and with games like Grand Theft Auto 5, it is believed that one day video games will rule the entertainment industry.
