The PC version of Rockstar’s classic GTA, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is apparently no longer available for purchase on Steam. Furthermore, GTA San Andreas‘ Steam database information reveals that the game has been subject to a a number of recent updates. Might an updated GTA San Andreas be coming to PC owners soon?
PC gamers who own San Andreas are most likely familiar with the game’s lack of widescreen/1080p support (unless one downgrades the game’s .exe to a previous version – a technical, unnecessary process) and missing Xinput support.
With that in mind, an update to the Steam version of GTA: SA would be welcomed with open arms by most members of the PC gaming community.

GTA San Andreas Steam Update Coming Soon?
Seeing that GTA San Andreas was recently re-released on the Xbox 360, complete with 720p resolution and Xbox Achievements (…and is currently on sale on the Xbox Marketplace for $3.74, no less), it is entirely possible that the fan-favorite GTA title may see an updated iteration of PC through Valve’s Steam service sometime in the near future.
Additionally, a user on Reddit’s r/Steam subreddit commented that a GTA San Andreas beta containing widescreen and Xinput support has been confirmed. However, the individual did not elaborate further upon the subject, so its validity is questionable at best.
Regardless, if the rumor that an updated Steam version of San Andreas turns out to be accurate, it is safe to assume that the game will include the aforementioned widescreen and Xinput support, alongside the addition of Steam Achievements.
Keep in mind that this is all rumor and speculation at this point. As compelling as the evidence may be, it would be inappropriate to say otherwise. This article will be updated accordingly if, or when, relevant information arrives.
What are your thoughts on the possibility of the Steam version of GTA San Andreas receiving an update sometime soon? Is it a much-needed one, or are you indifferent towards the prospect?
Also, what do you think of Rockstar’s decision to release the PC version of GTA 5 over 2 months later than the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions?
