You often don’t need to pay for extra game content. Such is the case with ArenaNet’s Guild Wars 2, where once you buy the game, you have unlimited access to a great MMORPG that gets constant updates and new things to do. Guild Wars 2’s first chapter is coming to a close soon, and today’s update entitled “Escape from Lion’s Arch” is the penultimate addition to this season of the game. The story takes a drastic turn, and once the update is completed and you’ve logged in, you’ll find yourself in an entirely new world. Lion’s Arch has been overrun by hostile forces, and instead of a vibrant trading-hub, you’ll find flames, chaos and destruction.
Scarlet’s forces will be invading the capital city, and the team at ArenaNet is extremely excited to bring these new changes to fruition. Frankly, so are we. The end of this season will most likely mean the end and demise of Scarlet, a villain that somehow never managed to seem threatening enough in comparison with Guild Wars 2’s world bosses. In any case, the story is progressing nicely towards what promises to be an exciting end of the first season, and an opening for future adventures in the second.
The purpose of the update is to create an event and give players new things to see and do. Saving the citizens of the city will be the top priority, all while battling Scarlet’s forces. Re-built bosses from earlier releases are coming back, with the Molten Berserkers being among them. If you haven’t been playing Guild Wars 2 for awhile, it’s a great time to return to the game and explore the redesigned areas. The update goes live in a couple of hours, so you’d best prepare.
