IGN recently confirmed that Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN will be coming to North America for PS3 and PS4, and will be published by Aksys. A European release hasn’t been confirmed just yet. Guilty Gear Xrd SIGN is the latest entry in the well known fighting game series, developed by Arc System Works. The game was released in Japanese arcades and there is a ton of gameplay footage to find on YouTube.
‘Xrd’ is the first game in the series to transform the characters from their 2D sprites into 3D models and have them fight in the ‘2.5D’ style that was popularized by games like Street Fighter IV. Xrd features a much smaller cast than the previous game, Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus, but it also introduced 2 new characters: Bedman and Ramlethal Valentine. The same fast paced, technical gameplay returns in Xrd, highlighting the series’ signature style and presentation. If you’re a fan of the visual style in previous Guilty Gear games or other ‘anime’ style fighting games, then this game is sure to be for you.
Arc System Works also released the latest game in the BlazBlue series back in March: BlazBlue Chronophantasma. This entry in the series is exclusive to PS3 and features the largest cast so far by adding 7 new characters. BlazBlue’s developer, Toshimichi Mori, expressed that he’d like to bring Chronophantasma to the PS4, but in a completely overhauled way. Arc System Works is famous for their very exciting fighting games and have also worked on collaboration projects with publishers to develop games such as Hard Corps: Uprising and Persona 4 Arena, as well as its sequel Persona 4 Arena: Ultimax.
