Guitar Hero Downloadable Songs Unavailable After 31st March

For those of us who still get their full band kit out every now and then for an impromptu Guitar Hero party (or any other permutations of Hero, for that matter), you may want to pick up those pieces of DLC/track packs you’ve been eyeing up on to expand your track list.

Sadly, Guitar Hero’s Facebook page has announced that all downloadable content for Band Hero, DJ Hero, and Guitar Hero will no longer be available for purchase after March 31st. This applies to the Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the games. Thankfully, people with downloadable content already can continue jamming to their purchases. Also, the solo acts among us can still continue to play online as servers are to remain open. Furthermore, form now until the big red ‘off’ button is pressed, a selection of DLCs are on sale with a 50% price reduction.

As if the process of Activision running the franchise into the ground, then calling quits on it isn’t bad enough for us music/video game fans, ending the support for purchases of DLCs is surely the final nail in the peripheral-driven music genre’s coffin.

Oh well, I suppose we can always buy and enjoy the cheaper songs for now, and await the inevitable reboot and new games for when the genre becomes fashionable again.
