4J studios, the developer of Minecraft, an extremely popular online game, had given their gamers a Halloween Texture pack as what seems like a Halloween treat. This holiday-themed texture pack is actually an annual release by 4J studios which offers a spooky game play for a limited time. This year, however, the users of Playstation 3, Playstation 4 and PS Vita were in for a big disappointment as this pack was released on Halloween only for the Xbox editions of the game.
The developers of the game cited some technical glitches because of which the pack could not be introduced for the PlayStation editions of the game but assured that it would be made available as soon as the testing procedure was through. Well, true to their word, 4J studios has finally released the Halloween texture pack for Playstation 3.
The Halloween Texture pack is accompanied by Steam Punk Textures pack too. A combination of these two completely turns around the look of the game by introducing a wide variety of zombies, ghosts and creepers. The Steam punk texture also gives a better look to the mob characters (giving everyone goggles) and enhances the landscape decoration blocks by introducing new knobs, gears etc. One big advantage of these texture packs is that they can be played on any existing map, that is to say, any map previously created by you can simply be turned into a Halloween themed world, without having to add anything new. The Steam Punk texture, on the other hand, lets you convert your Minecraft world into the industrial revolution era. One can also test his creativity skills by using these texture options to create a completely new world in the game.
Although the Halloween texture is available for free download, the Steam punk can be bought for $1. Also, the Halloween edition is a holiday-themed edition and is therefore available for only a limited time before it will be pulled back by the developers. Since the festival is already past, many have started wondering whether the Halloween theme will be ending soon. However, developers have unofficially announced that the theme will stay till the end of November atleast. On the other hand, the Steam Punk texture, once bought, can be owned indefinitely.
Now, with Halloween behind us and Christmas and New Year fast approaching, Minecraft has announced another title update which has got its fans jumping in anticipated excitement. This latest title update will supposedly bring in a lot of features to Minecraft including horses, beacons, red stones and new kinds of blocks to decorate the landscape with. The update would even give the option of breeding the horses and donkeys to increase their number and the ‘carrot-on-stick’ approach to guide them. Fireworks are also said to be a big part of this New Year update which only adds fuel to the festive mood of the gamers. However, the developers have said that the update is still under testing since they are also trying to fix a lot of bugs. Hopefully, it will be released in time for the holiday season!
