HBO Go app coming to the PS3 today, no release date for PS4

by GH Staff

Good news for all those who use their PS3’s as a media hub. Over on the PlayStation Blog, Sony has announced that HBO Go, the network’s online streaming service, is now available on the PlayStation 3 through a free app. That being said, Sony is working “diligently” with HBO to get the PlayStation 4 version ready, however there is no clear release date as of yet.

The HBO Go app will be free to download on PS3 and PS4, but (as usual) you’ll need an HBO subscription from your cable or satellite provider to use the outstanding service. This is great news, with incredible shows like True Detective coming to a close and Game of Thrones season four debuting soon, now is the time to binge watch some HBO. I also recommend The Wire, an incredible show.

HBO Go is already available on the Xbox 360 and a version of the app for the Xbox One is scheduled to launch on the platform sometime this year. This trend emphasizes the changes in console orientation, with next-gen consoles receiving more and more multimedia features, making them worthwhile acquisitions for a living-room setup.
