Hollow Knight surpasses Halfway Point at KickStarter

by GH Staff

For a while, Team Cherry has been seeking some financial support for the crowd-funding project known as Hollow Knight; this 2D action and adventure title is set in a dark surreal world that’s filled with insects and heroes. Controlling the enigmatic “Hollow Knight”, players will journey through the depths of Hallownest, a vast and ancient kingdom buried deep underground. Fortunately, first-time viewers can gaze at the polish gameplay from this short trailer.

As folks can see from this footage, Team Cherry has managed to differentiate itself immediately: the gorgeous hand-drawn background with ambient lighting, the creative combat scripts from the artificial intelligence (basically, the enemies’ unique defense and attacks as shown by the Mantis Lord, Black Knight, and Infected Knight), and memorable characters.  With inspirations such as Metroid and The Legend of Zelda 2, this whole project seems to scratch that classic gameplay itch.

Still, this game is either destined to fail or succeed in 16 days at KickStarter. With 628 contributors, Hollow Knight has raised around 50% of its initial funding goal for $35,000 AUD. If the indie game developer succeeds, supporters will gain a digital copy for the PC, Mac and Linux in 2015. To reserve one copy, interested spectators will need to donate at least $10 AUD.
