The Xperia SP is no doubt a stylish looking handset, but do we really know how well it performs when pitted against the HTC Desire 616? Let’s find out.
HTC Desire 616 Dual SIM
HTC has brought Desire 616 as a low cost Dual SIM smartphone into the market. It is fairly well built and is easy to handle in hand.
Design and Display
With a 5 inch HD display and 1280 X 720 pixel resolution, the display is sharp enough for a mid-range phone. Its pixel density is 294 ppi. It comes with an HTC Sense 5.5 UI feature which is also available in their expensive phones. Now coming onto the design, the battery micro SD card slot and SIM card slot can be accessed by removing the back cover. The volume button and power button both are on the right side.
Specifications, Camera and Battery
It is the first HTC smartphone with an octa-core MediaTek processor and has 1GB of RAM. This is a good processor for multitasking. It has a built in 4 GB memory. Desire 616 comes with an 8 MP camera with LED flash and a 2 MP front camera. Battery backup with 2000 mAh is decent enough but requires charging during the same night or in the morning.
Sony Xperia SP
Sony has come out with a mid-range phone which offers high performance to its consumers on a budget.
Design and Display
The phone has aluminium chassis which though makes it a little sluggish to carry around, but on the other hand makes the phone quite sturdy as well. It has a 4.6 inch display screen and a microphone on the bottom. It also has a translucent bar in the bottom of the phone that houses an LED light that lights up different colours depending on the application the phone is running. The power button and volume button are on the right side. There is a camera button a little lower on the same side. The battery of the phone is not removable but the micro SD card slot and SIM card slot can be accessed by removing the back cover.
Specification, Camera and Battery
The Xperia SP has an Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS. It has its own UI skin on top of the software.It is powered with a 1.7GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor with 1GB RAM. There is 8GB of internal storage, expandable to 32GB via a micro SD card. It sports an 8 MP back camera with Auto focus and LED flash and a VGA front facing camera. It comes with 2370 mAh battery which is one of the highest capacity batteries in its class.
Overall
HTC’s design and body is flimsy and cheap looking and hasn’t been able to make an impression. But once powered on things start to change a little as it has a great display but unfortunately it stops right there. While Nokia Xperia SP has much more to offer in every sense and we are recommending that.
