iCloud Now Allows You to See Through Stolen Devices

The Apple Company, who are manufactures the iPhone, iPod and iPad series, has recently released a tool on iCloud that will allow users to decide if a gadget has been illegally obtained.

Buying a recycled device is a risk that a lot of people frequently take, obviously attracted by the lower cost it offers compared to the ones that can be seen in retail stores. Though, what comes with this low cost is the chance that the machinery you are buying is not as it seems. With many who are passing off gadgets that aren’t working anymore, is already broken or had just been stolen, it is difficult to know if the device you are about to buy is legal.

In answer to the product stealing, engineers of Apple have now set their concentration on the introduction of the newest iCloud tool. This feature will apparently be able to give upcoming Apple owners the ability to confirm the start lock status of an iPhone.

To be able to operate the iCloud function and find out if the appliance being sold is stolen or not, what will mainly be required is the IMEI or serial number of the device. Once you have this, you will be able to know if the product has been previously locked. This probably indicates that it has been gained from dishonest means. An iPhone that is locked cannot be used, so using the function could potentially be of help to many buyers and avoid them from making an error and being ripped off.

Additionally, this tool will allow retailers to immobilize activation locks before they advertise the device. It will also allow buyers to get rid of prior accounts stored on the phone, with assistance from the seller.

Apple has prepared the tool to be easy to use, and gave basic directions on how to enter the necessary data. They also gave some advice directed towards both buyers and sellers.

For the buyers, Apple recommends that when you receive a device from someone else, make sure to contact the last owner before you and tell them to remove their personal data from the device.

To sellers, Apple proposes that if you plan to sell or give your device away, remember to always sign out from your iCloud account and reset the gadget to its factory settings. To be able to do this, the iOS device owners must go to the Settings menu, click General, then Reset, and finally Erase All Content.

The new functions implementation comes at the where an influx of second hand iPhones have kept appearing on auction sites (e.g. eBay) as people desire to be the newer version such as the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. With many recycled items now for sale, there is a high chance that some of these have been stolen. Interested consumer looking to purchase a second hand iPhone are advised to use the new iCloud tool to protect themselves from lying buyers, and are also informed to be cautious to prevent a broken or faulty device being put up for sale.
