iOS 7: Apparently Still Better Than Its Successor

New data coming from Mixpanel, an analytics company for mobile gadgets, iOS 7 is still established on more than 50% of all mobile devices by Apple. The exact data collected states that as of October 6th, on the year of 2014, the seventh installment of iOS still accounts for more or less 51% of all Apple devices. Its successor, however, lags slightly behind with around 44.5%. The remaining 4.5% are those Apple users who are still using operating systems (OS) that are older, such as iOS 6 and the lower accounts.

iOS 8, which was launched on 17th of September, still fails to beat the rate of installations its predecessor had last year. Last September 2013, iOS 7 was able to obtain 15% of all Apple devices on just the first day of its release. On the 20th day, it has already been instated on over 69.7% of Apple devices. This is more than 25% what iOS 8 has managed to get.

iOS 7: Apparently Still Better Than Its SuccessorAt first, the latest version of iOS seemed to be on par with its predecessor garnering 14.2%, but as the days progressed, the number of people who changed to iOS 8 grew considerably low. The gap with iOS 7 is extremely wide.

As Mixpanel had said, they only get their statistics from the apps that their customers us. It is made heavily anonymous. Since they work with many apps that are used by millions of users worldwide, this data also contains non iOS device holders.

Mixpanel, however, isn’t the only company to discharge information on the subject of iOS 8. The analytics firm Fiksu shows an even lower statistics regarding iOS 8 adoption, as their figures claim that only 37.2% of Apple users have iOS 8 installed. Apples figures, though, illustrated that the new operating system was installed on over 46% of all Apple devices. Surprisingly, even if Apple themselves stated this amount of information, this is quite an undependable fact as it is solely based on gadgets that went to the App Store last September 21 2014.

The sluggish uptake on iOS 8 is particularly unexpected bearing in mind how well-liked the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were. Both devices have sold quite a number of units and have even been sold out in most places. The official Apple Store, itself, is awaiting for supplies. The two units come with pre installed iOS 8. Apple has also made sure to prevent them from downgrading the said units to iOS 7. This makes it totally impossible to get rid of the new OS. However, if you combine it with the given data, it only tells us that there are still many old Apple devices are out there.
