Over the past few days, The Verge has reported on leaked images of the set for Star Wars: Episode VII (the first movie of the sequel trilogy that’ll hit the cinemas in December, 2015), and the movie’s director – J.J. Abrams – is understandably none to happy about said leaks.
It’s also been reported that leaked images of an under-construction Millennium Falcon have circulated around the internet since Tuesday, June 3. So, in a photo that was tweeted via one of the movie’s production companies, Bad Robot, on Wednesday, June 4, Abrams wrote out a memo that addressed these leaked images, giving the leakers a good telling-to.

“I wish people would stop leaking photos from Episode VII,” he wrote, “And making ridiculous claims that the Millennium Falcon is in the movie.”
Curiously, the furniture piece in which the memo is placed upon happens to be quite similar to the table that was featured in the Millennium Falcon, where C-3PO, R2-D2 and Chewbacca played a game of holographic chess – a familiar prop indeed.
Whilst telling-off those who leaked the images, it could also be interpreted that Abrams is intentionally trolling people by teasing a prop from inside the Millennium Falcon, which could lead to further strengthen the speculation that the iconic ship may indeed be making an appearance in the new Star Wars trilogy.
Or, it could also be seen as Abrams just having fun with throwing in leads that don’t particularity go anywhere. No doubt it’s very difficult to contain anything and everything about a production, especially when there’s so many people working on it, but at least it seems he’s having fun with keeping Star Wars fans who are interested in the sequel trilogy on their toes.
Star Wars: Episode VII is slated to hit the cinemas on Friday, December 18, 2015.
