On May 27, 2014, Kalypso and Haemimont Games released a spoof trailer for Tropico 5 off of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean. Instead of the iconic introduction of the infamous Jack Sparrow who was dubbed as the “worse pirate”, this video portrays the “worse” dictator. Though the footage is meant to tease and entertain audiences, it is also meant to inform them about the upcoming release for the Sim City-like game on various gaming platforms. Here’s the trailer:
After being released for the PC, Mac, and Linux, the developers are going to launch the XBox 360 version in North America on the 11th of November this year. The city simulator basically allows folks to become the ultimate ruler and take control of the isolated island known as Tropico. However, the player must first build from early colonial times before they can reach the modern era and beyond. Because a human can only live up to one lifespan, the player’s heirs will take over the legacy and continue to lead throughout generations.
Besides being the great/worse dictator, the game include these other features:
- Advance the nation by discovering new buildings, technologies and resources and become one of the most dangerous nations the world has ever seen
- Explore the island and search for new resources
- Defend the civilians from hostile animals and native tribes
To really these gameplay actions, watch this pre-launch trailer. This new video, which lasts a bit more than one minute, shows us lots of positive feedbacks from the leading game portals and of course some short gameplay scenes.
Although the second video doesn’t demonstrate this fact, prospective buyers will be able to take part in co-op and competitive multiplayer matches with up to four players. For more information, please visit the official website.
