Apple iOS 8 puts so many restrictions starting from installing apps to changing default apps. One needs to jail break the device so that the user will have the freedom to install the apps of his/her liking and note that the jail break will remove the warranty of device. So it is better to check in advance whether you really want to go for it or not as once you jailbreak the device there is no going back. Requirements:
- You need a PC which is installed with Windows OS and the latest version of iTunes must be installed in it. If you are using OS other than Windows, run windows virtual machine on those operating systems (except MAC).
- Obviously you need the device that you want to jail break and the USB connector to connect the device to your computer.
Procedure:
- Connect the device to PC with USB connector and wait until the iTunes recognizes it.
- Take backup of the whole device; so if any mis-happenings occur you can easily roll out the OS from Backup and this helps in restoring your device to the original state.
- To jail break the device, you need to install the Pangu Jailbreak software which is available for free. It is always better to download this software from the official website of Pangu and one can see the download button directly in the home page of the website itself.
- Once the download is over; install the Pangu jail break software. One needs to have administrative privileges to do this.
- Once the installation is over, it automatically recognizes the device and click on “Start Jail Braking”.
- If the process has started, the device will restart after some time and will come up with a notification similar to doing back up.
- You will find pangu icon on the device and launching it will complete the first part of jail break.
- You need it install “Cydia” which will help the jail broke devices to access the iStore.
- During the installation of Cydia also, the device will restart automatically and this is a common practice and no need to worry about it.
- After the restart, tap on Cydia icon once and keep your phone idle for some time.
- After some time your device home screen will appear and now your device is jail broke and you can access third party apps and customize it according to your needs.
- This process can be used to jail break devices which are using iOS8 and iOS8.1
Note that though the jail breaking process looks simple, one wrong step is enough to make your device non functional. It is always better to perform jailbreak under the guidance of mobile and/or technical experts so that even if any mis-happenings occur they can easily solve.
