The art director of Halo 4, Kenneth Scott has departed from 343 Industries to pursue a career in Oculus VR as part of their 1st-party content team. Before joining 343 in 2008, Scott was perhaps most well known for his efforts within id Software, in which he worked on classic titles such as DOOM II: Hell on Earth, Quake III: Team Arena, Wolfenstein 3D, and many more.
Oculus VR made the announcement via a twitter post, as follows:
Welcome Kenneth Scott (@superactionfunb), Oculus Art Director, formerly of 343 and id Software. Ken is building our 1st-party content team!

Scott isn’t the first in the industry to make himself at home within Oculus VR, other notable persons include John Carmack, who took the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in August 2013 – Carmack is also a former member of id Software, most famous for his work on DOOM and Quake. Previous Valve employees Atman Binstock and Michael Abrash have also joined the ranks due to their past experience with virtual reality technology.
The Oculus Rift immerses users in a virtual reality environment – the first game to take advantage of this technology was Team Fortress 2, which can still be played on the developer kit release. With such talent working together, the Oculus Rift could very well be a massive success – we’ll see when it’s publicly released, which is expected either late 2014 or early 2015.
