Killzone Shadow Fall Intercept DLC Coming June, Adds 4 Player Co-op

by GH Staff

The next big DLC announced for Killzone Shadow Fall is the Intercept DLC, a new expansion pack that adds a 4 player online co-op mode. The Intercept DLC will add 4 arena maps based on locations from the single player campaign and Victor Zuylen on the Killzone blog gives us a thorough description of this new mode:

Killzone Shadow Fall Intercept places you and up to three of your friends on the elite VSA team known as Intelligence Squad Alpha. Operating behind enemy lines, your team is on a mission to intercept and relay Helghast military transmissions back to VSA headquarters. To succeed, you’ll need to keep Helghast interlopers at bay long enough to establish a Hacking Uplink and transmit the data.

Team members will have unique ‘Combat Roles’ such as Assault, Marksman and Medic, making this mode a lot like the standard role-based survival modes found in a lot of games recently. These kinds of modes place a strong emphasis on teamwork, by using each team member’s abilities to compliment one another to accomplish the goal. The Helghast enemies will also have Combat Roles which will change up how you have to fight them, so you’re not just fighting waves of brainless enemies. These enemies will also be able to call on ‘Helghast champions’ based on Killzone Shadow Fall key characters; this will add a boss fight type element to the mode.

Killzone Shadow Fall is available now for PS4 and Season Pass holders can pick up the Intercept DLC for free when it launches in June.
