Yes, there is now a Kim Kardashian video game. Actually it released last month on June 25h, but what’s even more surprising than that is that the game is doing very well. As in 50,000 users have given it a 5 star rating on Apple’s App store where the game holds the number four spot well. I write this post in disbelief, but if the game is doing this well that must mean that the game is doing something right.
The game features a virtual Hollywood and your quest as the player is to become famous and fabulous. With Kim’s advice of course. Some of that advice includes posing for photo shoots, attending certain parties, and seducing other celeb’s boyfriends. You’ll get the chance to walk the red carpet, buy luxurious homes, and visit all of the hottest clubs just like Kim Kardashian. You can also earn points and money by dating famous people and flirting because “dating famous people will get you more fans.” The game even enables you to date and dump celebrities on your quest to find that special someone so that you both can become Hollywood’s newest power couple. Do all of this right and you’ll be able to rendezvous with Kim Kardashian in Punta Mita, Mexico and, I don’t know, party with Kanye maybe?
The game is estimated to make around 200 million dollars. What makes that surprising is that the game itself is completely free. The revenue that it generates comes from in-app purchases for clothes and (I’m not making this up) “bursts of energy” to help you walk through Hollywood at a faster gait. These in-app buys range from a couple of bucks all the way up to sixty dollars. Glu Mobile are the masterminds behind this surprising hit and it might possibly be their “biggest game of the year” according to CEO Niccolo De Masi. He goes on to say that “we’re not surprised. Kim is a one-0f-a-kind talent with an incredibly precise fit to the game engine that we tailored but already had in the company.”
