The latest patch means that the SWAT playlist is back and the matches have gotten a little bigger.

343 Industries has released yet another patch this week as they work towards fixing Halo: The Master Chief Collection multiplayer mode. On the Halo Waypoint they explained that the latest Halo: The Master Chief Collection update has increased the number of players that can be in certain game modes and SWAT has returned for some Halo titles.

Starting with SWAT, the latest update has brought it back as a featured playlist and will feature a variety of game types from Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 2 Classic, and Halo 4. 343 Industries have also stated that “we’re making additional investments to include Halo 3 in the game type rotation for a future update”. 343 Industries are also planning to bring back other playlists such as Halo: CE, Halo 4 and Team Hardcore and they also plan to bring back playlists such as Team Doubles and Team Snipers in future playlists.

The latest Halo: The Master Chief Collection update has also increased the player count to 4v4 for these playlists:

  • Team Slayer
  • Halo 2 Classic
  • Halo 3
  • Halo Championship Series
  • SWAT

They have also updated the voting options across multiple playlists and they have also updated the “max party size” for Big Team Battle from 4-6 to 8. Finally in the patch noted 343 Industries also stated that:

  • In a future update, the ranked Halo 2: Anniversary playlist will be moved to 4v4. For now, as the playlist contains a variety of mid-size maps, we’ll be temporarily allowing both 4v4 and 5v5 matches, but have optimized the voting options for this player range. For example, you’ll see less 5v5 Team Slayer BRs on Warlord and more voting options that are catering to the current player counts of 4v4 and 5v5 (8 minimum, 10 maximum). Additionally, you’ll now be able to search as a party of 5. These changes are temporary until we turn ranking online for additional playlists“.

The latest Halo: The Master Chief Collection update has brought back the SWAT feature playlist and improves player numbers in a variety of match types and the next update is due out early next week.
