One of the major issues of games such as League of Legends and DOTA is their complexity. In order to completely enjoy the game, players have to spend awful amounts of time in combat. This makes the game rather dull for newcomers and is the reason for most people to abstain from playing. However, with the release of the newest League of Legends patch 4.1 today, developer Riot Games announced that they are set to improve the experience of new players.
Chris Tom, part of the Riot Games team, stated that newcomers will receive a “stable roster of free champions” to use. Tom also added that the champions were chosen based on how easy they are to learn and because of the enjoyment new players find in them. Most changes regarding the newcomers in League of Legends aren’t available with the new patch 4.1 and will be coming at a later date.
Although, Riot Games is thinking about the new players, they haven’t forgotten their long time fans as well. The new update brings a lot of changes aimed at refinement and tuning of the gameplay.
Addressing the vision while tackling larger issues, Riot Games made changes in the Vision Code. Chris Tom stated that these changes may not be noticeable at first, but players should be able to ‘see some positive differences over time with vision becoming more dynamic and responsive.’
Changes to League of Legends champions including Anivia, Riven, Rengar, Shyvana and Annie have also been made. The modernization of certain items (such as the Spirit lane of jungle items) and system (such as 2 vs. 1 lane swaps) has also been noted in the latest update.
Riot Games once again prove their dedication to League of Legends. Even though, the new player changes will come at a later date, it is good that the developers are thinking about the gamers that are just starting out their experience in the game.
