Even though League of Legends has been around for quite a while, it is constantly evolving in order to cater toward feedback from the players. Most of this feedback arises when new champions are released, because they are often way too OP when they first come out. The most recent patch updates reported another nerf to the mustached super support known as Braum. Braum has always been intended as a support, however his early game damage from his q in addition to his concussive blows passive and general tankiness and support features made bot lane a nightmare for the opposing team. Many players even use him as a top laner or jungler because of his potential. This patch will be reducing the damage output of his q, as well as shortening the window of opportunity for concussive blows to have the potential to stun the target(s). And while no immediate changes are being made to Lucian, Riot made sure to let us know that he’s high up on their list to be changed due to all of his strengths and few weaknesses. braum pentakill lucian pentakill
Nidalee has had a lot of changes as well. Her spears got nerfed a bit and her cougar form was given a lot of attention in order to make players want to use the cougar form more often and not just as an escape. Most Nidalee players toss spears all day and only use cougar form for better mobility. These changes are designed to make cougar form more appealing to initiate with for better combat.
Speaking of improved combat, there will be changes to the jungle as well. Tankier jungles will be paid some attention to since their early game is generally not up to par in comparison with choices such as Lee Sin. There will be a new jungle item called Quill Coat, in addition to some changes on the Spirit of the Ancient Golem. I prefer playing tankier champions when I jungle, such as Nautilus and Sejuani, so I’m excited for this.
And speaking of Nautilus, he is going to get a buff on his passive. His stun’s cooldown will be reduced as he levels up, instead of remaining a consistent 9 second cooldown throughout the game.
Instead of combat changes, some champions will even be undergoing cosmetic ones. The two champions who are to be receiving new splash arts are Caitlyn and Urgot. The Urgot one was most welcomed, however there could have been better candidates instead of Caitlyn. Sion or Anivia, for example. Caitlyn is also going to be receiving a new skin as well, and will be a Headhunter. Also be on the lookout for Hazmat Heimerdinger and Soulstealer Vladimir!
Headhunter CaitlynThe last point to be made is that League of Legends is a team based competitive game. That being said, not all players realized that muting a player in a game would unfriend them and also put them on the “block” list. Sometimes you just get tired of hearing what you did wrong, but you’re still friends at the end of the day. To fix this, muted players will no longer be unfriended or blocked. Sometimes the mute might even be accidental. Another common misconception among players is that the “ignore player” option would not unfriend the person. It not only unfriends them, it blocks them as well! I was guilty of thinking it just meant that the player would remain on your friends list, but would not be able to see when you’re online. The “ignore” feature has now been appropriately renamed to “block”.
