A post by Kotaku reveals a new leaked image of an unannounced Assassin’s Creed game, which will be one of two games coming this fall. The first, codenamed ‘Unity’, will be set in 18th Century Paris and will feature locales such as Notre Dame and the Seine river. Unity will be released for Xbox One and PS4, a source claims, while another game which is codenamed ‘Comet’ will release for Xbox 360 and PS3. Presumably, both these games will received a PC release but there is no mention of a Wii U release at all. Kotaku claims that the information is from their “conversations with developer sources”.
Fans had speculated and hoped that the next Assassin’s Creed game will be set in feudal Japan, but this was debunked by recent insights from Jade Raymond. Kotaku also sheds more light on the rumor, stating that discussions from NeoGAF forums confirmed the game’s setting and main character. Unity would be set during the French Revolution and will feature an Assassin named ‘Arno’. This is related to Jade Raymond’s report that the next game would be set during her favorite historical period, which led many to deduce that she referred to the French Revolution, hence the game’s setting. This news comes as a big surprise as it might mean that Ubisoft could be focusing development on the next-gen title whilst allowing another studio to work on the current gen version, similar to the rumors of High Moon Studios involvement in this year’s current gen Call of Duty title. Ubisoft has not commented on any of these rumors.
What do you think of this news? Are you willing to pay for two separate Assassin’s Creed titles this year?
