Suda51 and his company Grasshopper Manufacture are fairly well-known for creating controversial and downright violent video games. These include games about assassins, zombie killers, and the like. There are many, many moments that allow players to create extreme gore, decapitating foes, and cause blood to spew from wounds. It’s what we’ve come to expect from Suda.

His new game Let It Die got a spot at E3 last week, and fans were pretty excited.

By viewing the trailer for  the game presented at E3, one could easily expect much of the same from Suda51. Though the art style may be different — horrifyingly realistic, this time around — there was still a lot of death and destruction. As a matter of fact, it’s basically all that was shown. Some scary weapons were displayed, such as clubs with nails sticking out of them, and they were put to very good use. The violence in this game will be very much on the ultra-side.

What’s different about this game, though?

Multiplayer, mostly. The concept of the game is that once a player dies, they will appear in another player’s game, which is certainly an interesting concept. It seems that Let It Die will revolve around killing other players, and being killed by them. Looting after kills will be essential to progress through the game: players will basically be starting the experience in their underwear, after all.

Let It Die will be free-to-play on the PS4, and will be accompanied by a mobile app, though there aren’t many details on that portion of the game yet. It went through revisions, and was, in fact, changed from its initial concept, which was known as Lily Bergamo. The mobile app idea was kept throughout development, but much else, such as the game’s concept and gameplay direction have been changed.

Let It Die will be its own kind of unique, and I for one am interested to see how it turns out.
