Madden NFL 15 Cover Athlete Announced

Madden NFL 15

The Madden NFL 15 cover athlete has finally been selected; yesterday, EA Sports and ESPN announced that Super Bowl Winning cornerback Richard Sherman will grace the cover on this year’s edition. After several weeks and 9.6 million votes, the Seattle Seahawk’s corner defeated Carolina Panther’s quarterback Cam Newton in the finals; the selection was announced during a big spectacle on SportsCenter.

Richard Sherman’s response to winning showed a little bit of humility, which I did not fully expect: “winning the cover is a kid’s dream come true. I would never be in the position without my fellow Legion of Boom members and teammates.” Sherman has emerged as one of the premiere corners in the NFL and has just signed a contract extension worth $56 million dollars.

On top of this announcement, EA Sports just released a new gameplay trailer, which is more like a teaser. Again, the preview focuses on Panther’s star linebacker Luke Kuechly, which means that this year’s focus is defense: the end of the trailer even had a link that leads to a page describing the new defensive mechanics. Madden NFL 15 promises an “all-new arsenal of pass rush moves, contain the open field with intuitive tackling mechanics, and play as a team with redesigned zone and man coverage logic all while being immersed in the play from the other side of the line, with defensive player lock cameras.” Also, the game promises a new sleek NFL Films Presentation and a Peyton Manning-like ability to know your opponent.

Madden NFL 15 will be released for the Xbox One, PS4, PS3 and Xbox 360 on August 26: stay tuned for more Madden information during E3 2014. Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below. And for all updates, continue to read Gamer Headlines.
