What Makes Samsung Galaxy SII and Nokia Lumia 800 Different from Each Other

There are many known similarities between Samsung Galaxy SII and Lumia 800 like their 8MP rear cameras and their screen resolutions of 480×800 pixels just to name some. Actually, even if these two have a number of similar features, they are very much different from each other. Below is a comparison of the Samsung’s flagship and Microsoft’s Lumia model.

Displays, Sizes and Designs

It’s the physical appearance that grabs the attention of most smartphone buyers when they see different options on the shelves for new devices. The Lumia 800 looks quite the same as other phones released by the manufacturer with shiny plastic at the back. The Samsung Galaxy SII has 4.3 inches of WVGA display, it weighs 116 grams and it has dimensions of 125×61.2×8.5mm. The Lumia 800 on the other hand, has a display which measures 3.7 inches of curved AMOLED or Nokia ClearBlack, kind of different from the Super AMOLED of Samsung’s but both of them uses Corning Gorilla Glass to prevent scratches. As for the dimensions compared to SII, the Lumia smartphone comes with measurements of 116.5×61.2×12.1mm.

Also, it uses an Adreno 205 GPU. Its internal memory is 16GB without any option to be expanded. Lastly, the RAM capacity of this smartphone is 512MB.

Looking at the Samsung Galaxy SII, you would notice that is scores a bit over its rival because this device has two processors of Cortex-A9, its speed is clocked at 1.2GHz and it is supported by Exynos 4210 chipset plus Mali-400 GPU. There’s also the RAM of 1GB and two options of internal memory: 16GB and 32GB with the first one expandable to another 32GB of storage.

Operating System

Now what’s the difference between the two in this category? Actually, they are very much unique as they are running on different operating systems. The Lumia 800 initially runs on Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango until it was upgraded to the v7.8 while the Samsung Galaxy SII device runs on Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) with an option to upgrade to 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and lastly to 4.1 (Jelly Bean).

Cameras

The two of the same 8MP cameras, but the Lumia 800 is using Zeiss Optics and it doesn’t have a secondary camera which is very unusual for such a high-end phone. Galaxy SII offers the same features of geo tagging and autofocus but aside from the ones mentioned, it also has LED flash and the option to do video calling with its user-facing secondary camera.

Anyone who would learn about the differences between the two great phones will surely agree that the Samsung Galaxy SII is the better option. This is given the comparisons here based on the displays, sizes, operating systems, hardware and so on.
