The creators of the LittleBigPlanet and Tearaway franchises will announce their new intellectual property this year.

This news comes from the creative director of Media Molecule Marcos Healey who revealed this news via Twitter:

The Sony-owned British studio last released a game in late 2013; this title was the excellent Tearaway which was a PS Vita exclusive until the studio announced that Tearaway will be heading to the PS4 as Tearaway Unfolded.

The development of Tearaway only required a small percentage of the studio’s personnel and it has been known for quite some time that another game is being developed by the studio.

If you are expecting LittleBigPlanet 4 from Media Molecule than you will most likely be disappointed as the studio has stated multiple times that no longer want to iterate on Sackboy’s adventures.

There are rumours that the next title from Media Molecule will incorporate some of the Playstation 4’s accessories such as Playstation Move and Project Morpheus, this is because during the PS4 reveal in February 2013 the studio was showing off what was capable with the Playstation Move on the PS4. This rumour has some weight considering that Healey has stated that the studio showed a “taste” of what was Media Molecule was working on at the Playstation 4 reveal event:
