A few days ago Markus Persson, best known for Minecraft and the founding of his company Mojang, tweeted that his irritation and skepticism with Facebook buying Oculus was finally over because he had more pressing, worldly issues at hand posting “I’m officially over being upset about Facebook buying Oculus. I’m upset about there being a hole in my favorite sock instead.”
Fear of holey socks aside Cormack is ready for Minecraft on Oculus.If you didn’t know, Persson showed his displeasure with the Facebook-Oculus deal earlier in the year stating that Minecraft wouldn’t be made for the Oculus Rift due to his wavering feelings toward the acquisition.
But now, since that irrational anger has subsided could we see a Minecraft port for the Oculus Rift VR system? While there’s no official news yet, CTO at Oculus VR, John Carmack tweeted back at Persson with this to say:
“say the word, ship the source, and I’ll make sure It runs well on you-know-what…”
Now, this isn’t chiseled in stone nor is it even specific. Carmack kept it extremely vague not mentioning either Minecraft or Oculus in his tweet but, let’s be honest, we all know what he’s implying. Don’t try and be sneaky with us John, we know what you’re up to. Nonetheless this is exciting news for any Minecraft lovers out there for it’s the first steps in making a totally immersive, virtual reality Minecraft. How much more terrifying would exploring a cave system and running into a couple Creepers be on the Oculus? I would find a new love for the sandbox despite completely over playing it in the past.
