Minecraft Player Models May Get Thinner Soon

Minecraft’s Jens Bergensten recently tweeted that future player models may get slightly thinner arms in the future. As you can see from the image above, the avatar looks like it may have just started an all-vegan diet. In specifics, the developer noted that the new models have limbs that are one pixel less than normal. Considering Minecraft’s trademark blocky animation style, it’s pretty amazing the visible difference that excluding one small square can make.

For those that aren’t too keen on the remodeling, Bergensten has two major points of condolence. He says that the thinner style would only be an additional option to the existing look, and that it may not even happen at all. In the coder’s own words, this reimagining is simply “a possible feature for the future.”

Not too long ago, the folks behind Minecraft recently touted that a full sixteen million copies of the game had been sold on PC and Mac. The craze isn’t over quite yet though, as dedicated versions for PS4, Xbox One, and PlayStation Vita are also set to launch sometime next month. Whether you love it or hate it, there’s no denying that Minecraft has become a global phenomenon. To some, changes like losing a single pixel  might make for a pretty huge headline.
