Hardware modder DekuNukem has come up with an ingenious method to mod your 3DS to use a Gamecube controller, which is pretty good timing considering Smash Bros 3DS launches this Friday. You need technical knowhow to install the mod yourself, but all the parts will only set you back approximately $10, and DekuNukem has put his entire method up on GitHub. He created this video below to demonstrate his mod’s functionality:
His quip about “no more hand cramps or broken circle pad” refers to the fact that many players find the 3DS control scheme cumbersome, and some Japanese players have reported broken circle pads after playing the game vigorously since its release. It is common knowledge that the Gamecube is the preferred method of control for Super Smash Bros, and Nintendo is even going as far as to offer a bundle for Super Smash Bros Wii U that comes with a Nintendo Gamecube controller and controller adapter.
The description of his Youtube video states that DekuNukem is accepting limited commissions to mod your 3DS for you if you can not do it yourself.
Would you be willing to subject your 3DS to some hardware modding just for better control? Let us know in the comments.
